Months has passed in Arcadia since my last update, which apparently was not followed by daily posts. For some reason I cannot seem to commit myself to any sort of daily routines. Besides feeding the horses three times a day and mucking out the pony paddock each morning, that is.

Still working on that To-do list - even though I have managed to check off a few items, more are constantly added to it, making this a never ending story called, well, life I suppose...

The electrician arrived yesterday morning to connect the stable to the master grid, and immediately started to complain about the wiring I already had put up. He is now rewiring the entire stable building, and even though I tell myself that it is a matter of safety for both us and the horses, it will leave a sizeable hole in my wallet.

The carport - or what-ever-you-call-it - is half way done, and I'm embarking on the second half with the rather optimistic view of getting it ready before first snowfall. Which is, as a matter of fact, already too late, as a spot of snow actually fell about a week ago, making it the earliest snow since we moved here. No trace of it in the morning though, so I've decided not to regard it as real snow.
Winter down here usually doesn't start until after New Year, but last year was a rather shocking exception with its four months of heavy snow, something I would not like to see repeat itself this winter. Time will tell, supposedly.

Now a new Arcadian day lies ahead of me, and I must fill it with both meaning and thought; with both heart and soul.

Quite a few days have passed in Arcadia since the last update, but they are nearly forgotten now.

My younger brother came down to spend a few days away from home. Took him out on a few excursions and had a rather good time, while work on the ToDo-list was temporarily halted.

The weather has gone from extreme summer to normal, and the much awaited rain has started to fall. The grass is again growing in the paddocks, although feeding with hay continues for the time being. The yearlings started to lose weight which is a clear warning sign...

Almost done with one of the windows; it takes a silly amount of time to prepare each part for painting, and then applying 2-3 layers in two different colours. Cannot put the first one in until perhaps friday at the earliest, and not until then can I remove the other to start working on it.

The rest of the list seems to go on forever, but I try to focus on one thing at a time, and even more important, I try to finish each task before commencing to the next! Not easy for me, but a man has to learn sooner or later.

Tomorrow I will return to summarizing each day again, as that is the way I want to describe my passing days in Arcadia.

Another day in Arcadia!

Business as usual. G came round to work with L. We tested his nerves using the lawn mower, and he took it like a man.

In the afternoon we drove down to my chiropractor; got my pelvis corrected, which should hopefully make my riding much more balanced in the future. The doctor was impressed by how quickly I healed up after last year's back problems, so this shouldn't need any more work.

Dropped in at G on the way home to get more paint, but as it is not entirely clear what formula should be used we have to return with a sample of the old paint as a reference. So no paint to use on the windows...

After returning home I went out in the garage, grinded the table surface and applied the last coat of laquer. Also put on a first layer on the under carriage.

Made a big bowl of salad for dinner, served with cottage cheese and nothing else. A fair trade for the last two days indulgences. Cannot afford to put on any more weight, especially since I'm not running much at the moment.

Another day in Arcadia!

Got up a tad later than usual. The young ones had emptied their water barrel and tossed it around the paddock. I certainly don't blame them; should have filled it up before going to bed yesterday...
Got hay for everyone and then filled up with plenty of fresh water, looks like another rather hot day in the sun.

W's belly is still looking rather sore, but not swollen anymore. Mucked out the pony paddock before going in for my daily porridge. Oat, apples and blueberries are a lovely combination!

After breakfast I took it upon myself to empty the rest of the old straw from W's field shelter. Dirty work, but somebody has to do it. With that taken care of it was time for a refreshing drink, before grinding off the rest of the paint from the window. Put on a layer of oil before finishing for the evening.

A haircut and a shower later J got back from work, and I prepared dinner. After which it was high time to go out in the rain (finally!) and feed the horses again.

My days in Arcadia are numbered.

This is number one.
